Miss Illustrator’s Scissors tool in Photoshop?

If you’ve ever relied on Illustrator’s Scissors tool to create a break in a vector path or shape, consider yourself spoiled—Photoshop doesn’t share that feature. But don’t worry; we’ve got a workaround!

To remove a portion of a vector path or shape in Photoshop:

  1. Select the Add Anchor Point tool from the Tools Panel.
  2. Click on the existing vector path at one end of where you want to create a break.
  3. Click again on the existing vector path at the other end of where you want to create a break.
  4. Click again on the existing vector path  in the middle of where you want to create the break.
  5. Press [Backspace] and Photoshop removes the portion between the first two points you added.
